The process of inculturation of thefaith
The process of inculturation of thefaith, which has marked the history of these peoples down totoday, was Rosetta Stone V3 carried out through the untiring work of themissionaries who came from Constantinople.4. Ukraine, land blessed by God, Christianity is an inseparable part ofyour civil, cultural and religious identity! You havefulfilled and continue to fulfil an important mission withinthe great family of Slav peoples and in Eastern Europe. Drawfrom the common Christian roots the living sap which willcontinue to flow through the branches of your ecclesialcommunities in the third millennium.Christians ofUkraine, may God help you to look back together to the nobleorigins of your nation. May he help you to rediscovertogether the solid grounds for a respectful and courageousecumenical journey, a journey of coming closer and of mutualunderstanding, favoured by good will on the part ofeveryone. May the day of restored communion among all thedisciples of Christ come soon, that communion for which theLord ardently prayed before his return to the Father (cf. Jn17:20-21).5. I now greet you, the Representatives of theother Religions and Religious Organizations, who work inclose cooperation with Christians in Ukraine. This is atypical quality of your land which, on account of itsparticular position and make-up, is a natural bridge notonly between East and West, but also between the peoples whohave been here together for several centuries. These arepeople who differ as regards historical origin, culturaltradition and religious belief. I wish to recall thesignificant presence of the Jews, who form a community whichis solidly rooted in Ukrainian society and culture. They toosuffered injustices and persecutions for having remainedfaithful to the Rosetta Stone Latin America Spanish religion of their ancestors. Who can everforget the immense tribute of blood which they paid to thefanaticism of an ideology propounding the superiority of onerace over others? Here, in Kyiv, at Babyn Yar, during theNazi occupation countless people, including over 100,000Jews, were killed within a few days. This is one of the mostatrocious of the many crimes which the history of the lastcentury unhappily has had to record.May the memory ofthis episode of murderous frenzy be a salutary warning toall. What atrocities is man capable of, when he foolshimself into thinking that he can do without God! The desireto set himself up in opposition to God and to combat everyform of religion showed itself in an overbearing way also inatheistic and Communist totalitarianism. In this city, thismemory lives on in the monuments to the victims ofHolodomar, to those killed at Bykivnia, to those who died inthe Afghanistan war, to mention but a few. May the memory ofsuch painful experiences help humanity today, especially theyounger generation, to reject every form of violence and togrow in respect for human dignity, by safeguarding thefundamental rights rooted in it, not least the right toreligious freedom.6. To the memory of the massacre of theJews, I wish to add that of the crimes committed by thepolitical power against the Muslim community in Ukraine. Iam thinking in particular of the Tartars deported from theCrimea to the Asiatic Republics Rosetta Stone Arabic of the Soviet Union, who nowwish to return to their land of origin. In this regard, allow me to express the hope that through open, patient andpersevering dialogue suitable solutions will be found, always in a climate of sincere tolerance and practicalcooperation for the common good.
