Steelers linemen honor veteran tackle Flozell Adams as he seeks his first Super Bowl title

Then, he saw the rest of the Steelers offensive line wearing green Michigan State jerseys with No. 76 on the back a surprise tribute to their right tackle.They actually all told me they wish they had gone to Michigan State, Adams cracked later, after the team arrived at its hotel in North Texas.Jokes aside, Adams was moved. For Super Bowl XL, the Steelers traveled in Jerome Bettis jerseys. For Super Bowl XLIII, they chose Dermontti Dawsons threads to aid the former centers Hall of Fame push.Adams, who signed with Pittsburgh just before training camp last summer, inspired his position mates for Super Bowl XLV the 35-year-olds first shot at a ring, and his return to the city where he played for a dozen years.It feels a little different, Adams admitted. As long as its the Super Bowl, it doesnt matter where it is, as long as Im a part of it. Because those things are very scarce in a football players life.Adams was released by the Cowboys last April, after 12 seasons, and was in limbo for nearly four months. But when Willie Colon tore his Achilles tendon last summer and was lost for the season, the Steelers signed Adams.He moved from left tackle to right, learning to set his stance differently and changing his style. Once he gained his footing, he started all 16 games for the Steelers, endearing himself to teammates with his work ethic and veteran presence and apparently even his moods.It might sound funny, but he doesnt always have a great disposition, but we enjoy that about him, too, coach Mike Tomlin Ben Roethlisberger Jersey said. The thing that is probably most impressive about Flozell is that his intentions have been so pure since the day he joined our football team. ... This guy just wants to win.That was one of the reasons the Steelers were an attractive landing spot for Adams. In 12 years with the Cowboys, who drafted him in the second round out of Michigan State in 1998, he had only won one playoff game: the wild-card round against the Eagles last season.Coming up on 13, 14, 15 years, you dont know how much longer youve got, Adams said. He planned to take his new teammates around his old city, starting with Bobs Steak & Chop House.He hasnt dwelled much on his release by Dallas, saying simply that it happened, and he had to move on. He had kind words for the Cowboys, calling both them and the Steelers great organizations.Still, there was a transition period when he was unsure how or if his new team would embrace him. Its just the love those guys have for him, receiver Hines Ward explained. Its kind of ironic: Flo played for the Cowboys, and here he is playing in Cowboys Stadium for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Im pretty sure a lot of Cowboys fans are highly Heath Miller Jersey upset, but were glad to have him. Hopefully, we can win this thing for Flo.
